There are many recordings that consistently rank in the top 10, 20, or 50 listings of the classic or best jazz albums issued. Some have always been part of the list, and others have come and gone as new performances have been captured over time. Generally, there are one or two cuts that are the acknowledged "hits" that in some cases even crossed over into the popular music charts.
