The list of such performers is indeed very short and Horace Silver is one of the most important yet often overlooked in the grand scheme of jazz. From bebop to hard bop, the bossa nova era, soul jazz, electric jazz, spiritualism, and the post bop renaissance, he ultimately offered the definitive restatement the past, futures, and present.
