Jazz is a collection of endless hues projected onto a broad canvas that encompasses many influences from around the globe. However, the essence or roots to this unique art form can be traced back to three things: the blues, polyrhythm, and improvisation. There is no better illustration of polyrhythm that the rhythmic foundation we know as swing. In this hour we'll be sticking with our roots as we'll undertake a solid swingin' affair.
