If one were to describe a generic jazz composition, perhaps it would be 32 bars long, in the key of F, with a 4/4 time signature, and arranged for 5 or 6 players. While many a jazz chart would match this description, the musical tapestry of jazz offers so much more. In this hour, we will explore jazz that is in a variety of uncommon, i.e. not 4/4, time signatures. Stat tuned for the sounds of 3/4, 7/4, 10/4, 11/4, 9/8, 22/8, and even the bizarre 3-2/3 / 4 time.
